The DMV Cyclist Group

[This event took place in June 2007 -- clearly a newbie to riding]

What's up peeps? Soooo, I got up early Saturday to try and get a bike ride in. Was out the house at 8:30ish (if ya know me, then you know that's early!) I packed up the new bike/gear and headed to BWI's bike trail, which is pretty new...to me! Wanted to try something different. I've been doing 12 miles or so. About 3 times a week. (not too bad for this old PS2/Xbox dude).

Sidebar: Hurts to work parts of the body that ain't been worked on since......high school. Damn!

Anyways, I got to BWI's trail and headed out. After about a mile there is this "fork" in the path. So I went, umm, left. 2 miles later it hits me that I'm no longer on the BWI Trail. Ahhhh nooooo!! I'm NOW on the B&A Trail (Baltimore & Annapolis). Yes, a bike/hike trail that goes from BMore to Annapolis. Sweeeeeet! It's a really cool ride all historic and plenty of trees to give me some shade.

Guess what? I rode all the from BWI to Annapolis. Yeah clocked almost 17 miles one way. (at this point I was saying "Ricks, ya gotta get BACK to your car--Dig in, boy" On the way back I rode to a Rite-Aid for a refill of Gatorade. I drank one in line! Why is that funny? I drove to a Rite-Aid -- and I didn't get any aspirin. (did I mention I'm 40? HAHAHA!)

All total I did 35 miles! This is an unplanned milestone....

One of the best parts was the music. Since this was a closed path, (no cars), I used my MP3 player to keep me motivated. There is nothing but pure joy to hear some Dr Dre, Tribe Called Quest and Tupac all the while the folks I pass are nodding and saying "good morning, friend" Yeah, Dr. Dre's 'Let Me Ride' at 9:30am is classic esp when nobody hears it but me! Needless to say, I was beat. Got home at noon and veg'd out back on the desc with my MP3 player--Jazz this time. Fell asleep. Woke up after being bit by a mosquito from the Flintstones.

Overall it was a great day outside--which was the whole point of this message.... I think?

I was too tired on the way back to stop and take pics. I may do it again next time. If I can make another rebel playlist and my legs recover. LOL!
